The real challenge is not to dominate, but to coexist! In HERFUSE, we are breaking the Mold

Gender discrimination and ultimate dominance have been major issues preoccupying humanity for centuries. However, the real challenge is not to dominate, but to coexist. And when we talk about coexistence, we do not only mean simply sharing a space or a laboratory; we mean the planning, coordination, and execution of a shared goal. In aerospace engineering, where the sky is literally the limit, such coexistence may seem like an almost impossible task. Yet, in HERFUSE, we are breaking that barrier.

AIRBUS, the leader of the UCB configuration (Hybrid electric aircraft powered with batteries, fuel cells and hydrogen tank), under the exceptional leadership of Tamara Rodriguez Gomez, has managed with remarkable precision to lead a well-balanced team in terms of gender equality. This is not just a demonstration of collaboration; it is a concrete embodiment of breaking boundaries. This diverse team collaboratively excels across all aspects of the project: from hands-on laboratory work to high-level meetings across Europe, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently, challenges are overcome, and the project stays on track toward success. Their expertise, dedication, and leadership are key to HERFUSE achieving its ambitious goals, proving that innovation thrives when diversity and equality are at the core.

In line with the European Union’s commitment to gender equality and combating discrimination, HERFUSE is setting a benchmark: showing that excellence and success in engineering know no gender, and that when talented individuals, regardless of gender, are empowered, the sky is truly not the limit.
