B. ROLE IN THE HERFUSE PROJECT 

Leonardo is HERFUSE project leader, having recognized capabilities in the design, manufacture, and assembly of aerostructure through the Aircraft and Aerostructures division and strong capabilities of conception, definition, design, and integration of very complex products in the civil and military domain. Following what above, Leonardo's involvement is mainly based on the steering and overview, from an aircraft integrator perspective, of all the HERFUSE activities and the interaction and links with the HERA project activities to support the feasibility of the future regional hybrid electric platform: for such reasons, Leonardo will guide the project management tasks providing requirements definition and part of the enabling technologies to be studied, verifying in parallel the correct integration at the structural level of all the fuselage and empennages items from the design point of view, leading, at the same time, the final full-scale demonstration with particular focus on the vertical empennage box.
