ASCO INDUSTRIES N.V.

A. ENTITY DESCRIPTION

ASCO is part of Montana Aerospace – business segment Aerostructures. The core competence includes the development, design and manufacturing of mission-critical aircraft parts made out of aluminum, titanium, special steels and composites. These capabilities are present in ASCO and Universal Alloy Corporation, which are the two companies leading this business segment. Main products include complex structural components for fuselage and wings, critical engine components, high-lift mechanisms, landing gear, and functional components out of hard metals for the aircraft structure.

B. ROLE IN THE HERFUSE PROJECT

Asco Industries will design and perform stress analysis of an innovative lightweight fuselage floor structure for the FWD and AFT fuselage section of a next-generation hybrid-electrical regional aircraft concept. A dedicated focus is foreseen on the most optimal interface of the novel systems (batteries, fuel cells, hydrogen tank) with the FWD and AFT floor structure. Lightweight Aluminium alloys, innovative bonding, and optimized buy-to-fly technologies are key technologies that will be investigated to reduce the overall weight and assembly complexity.
